About Me

Who am I?

My name is Dean, I'm based in Norwich, Norfolk in the UK. I'm sharing my passion for woodwork both as a beginner, and as someone with a chronic condition - Fibromyalgia, amongst other things! I'm doing this to hopefully help inspire other beginners to take up woodwork, but also people with challenges to understand the physical and mental benefits of creating something.

This is Pepper, the most recent rescue pooch my wife Vicky and I were lucky enough to adopt. Don't let the cuteness fool you, she's a youngster and quite often an absolute idiot - we wouldn't want it any other way.

She's Romanian, and a Mioritic cross breed.

When it comes to my fibromyalgia, I've had it in various forms over the last 20 years. Over that time it's gained significant traction taking over my body, and as a result, I find that I have many days where I'm simply incapable and/or in too much pain to move.
On my good days I get into the workshop to help me mentally, and that may mean I can record a video, make something, or just have 15 minutes of tidying up. It all depends on what my body allows.

My workshop is laid out in such a way that others may find cramped, but as I can't walk very well, I need to ensure I have constant support, and am less likely to fall.

The Fibro, crumbling spine, and Ankylosing Spondylitis have gotten to the point where specialists can no longer help, and as such I'm in pain 24/7.
I don't say this for a pity party, but I know there are a lot of people like me, and it's important to know that you're not alone.

Woodwork was a way for me to try to remain somewhat active on good days, and also to fight the dark clouds mentally when I was having a tough time. I'm hoping to share that within my YouTube channel, and help others.

This is a video I made some time ago on another channel where I explain it in more detail.
I'm humbled to have helped as many people as I have in the comments by sharing.
